League Overview

The weekly Men’s 8.5+ Pick Your Partner (PYP) League is a competitive men’s doubles league perfect for the 4.2-4.5 rated player. Teams register with a partner and choose to opt-in (sign up) each week.  Weekly play is a ladder league/round robin style of play. Each Saturday is a standalone event—there are no cumulative standings. Teams are seeded weekly based on current DUPR ratings to form balanced round-robin pods.

Eligibility Requirements

To participate, all players must:

  • Join PCVG's MyPBGames

  • Be a full-time resident of The Villages

  • Be 50+ years old during the registration year

  • Register as a two-man team

  • Have a minimum DUPR or PCVG rating of 4.0

  • Have a DUPR with 30+ games and 60% reliability (if using DUPR)

Additional notes:

  • There is no upper rating limit

Registration

All PCVG leagues must use MyPBGames to manage the league, and all players and subs must join PCVG's MyPBGames.

  • Up to 18 teams may register for the season
  • Each week, teams opt-in or opt-out by Wednesday

  • Maximum of 12 teams can play each week

  • If fewer than 12 teams register, we play with whoever opted-in

  • The first 12 teams to opt-in are included for that week

Weekly Format

  • This is a “this week only” event, similar to a Ladder League

  • Teams are seeded weekly

  • Games and points do not carry over week to week

  • Match results are submitted to DUPR

Round-Robin Pods

When 12 teams are registered, the weekly format is:

  • Top 4 teams → Pod 1 (round robin)

  • Middle 4 teams → Pod 2

  • Bottom 4 teams → Pod 3

Each pod plays:

  • 2 games versus each opponent

  • 6 total games

Game Rules

  • Games to 11, win by 1

  • Only completed games count
