League Overview

The Men’s 8.0+ Pick Your Partner (PYP) League is a competitive men’s doubles league. Teams register with a partner and choose to opt-in (sign up) each week. Weekly play is a ladder league/round robin style of play. Each Thursday is a standalone event—there are no cumulative standings. Teams are placed into divisions based on their combined PCVG or DUPR ratings at the time of registration. 

If registration warrants, the league uses a two-division format based on combined partner ratings. The divisions are determined after player registration. Teams are placed into divisions based on their combined PCVG or DUPR ratings at the time of registration.

Player Requirements

  • Must join PCVG's MyPBGames.
  • Must be a full-time resident of The Villages.
  • Must be age 50+ during the registration year.
  • Must register as a partnered team but can opt-in to play on a weekly basis.
  • Both players must hold a 4.0 or higher PCVG rating or a 4.0 or higher DUPR rating with 24+ games and 60% reliability. No 3.5 ratings are accepted.

Format

  • This is a “this week only” event.
  • Teams are seeded weekly.
  • Scoring is points-based. Total points determine standings.
  • Games and points do not carry over week to week.
  • Match results are not submitted to DUPR.

Substitutes & Player Replacements

  • Players are responsible for arranging their own substitutes and permanent replacements when needed.
  • Substitutes and permanent replacements must also meet all league eligibility and rating requirements. 
  • 3.5‑rated players aren’t eligible to participate as substitutes.

Forfeits for Late Arrival

If a player is late:

  • 10:05AM – Forfeit Game 1
  • 10:20AM – Forfeit Game 2
  • 10:40AM – Forfeit Game 3

A no-show results in all games forfeited (11–0 each).
